§ Mr. SCRYMGEOURasked the Minister of Transport, in view of Parliament having soon to consider certain great hydro-electric schemes for Scotland, and seeing that Ireland, Canada and Switzerland undertake and conduct such projects on the basis of national ownership, whether he would be prepared so to advise the Government on behalf of the people of Scotland?
§ Colonel ASHLEYI do not at present propose to seek any powers to undertake and work hydro-electric schemes in Scotland. I would, however, remind the hon. Member that it has been the practice of Parliament to insert in Special Acts authorising such undertakings provisions that would enable them to be acquired by the State eventually.
