§ Mr. W. THORNEasked the Secretary for Mines if he is aware that Nixons collieries, Mountain Ash, have closed down and 55 officials and 5,000 workmen have ceased work indefinitely; if he can state the reasons why work has been stopped; and if he intends taking any action in the matter?
§ Commodore KINGI understand that three pits owned by this company at Mountain Ash were closed last week and that a meeting of the company has been called to consider the question of voluntary liquidation. As I have stated previously, I have no power to interfere with the discretion of mine owners as to whether they will continue to work their pits or not.
