HC Deb 21 November 1928 vol 222 cc1745-6W
Sir R. NEVILLE

asked the Home Secretary what is the estimated present annual increase of the population of England and Wales and Scotland?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I have been asked to reply. According to the published official estimates, the average annual increase in population between the date of the 1921 Census and mid-1927 is approximately 234,000 in England and Wales. As regards Scotland, I suggest that a question should be addressed to my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland.
