HC Deb 21 November 1928 vol 222 cc1741-2W
Mr. PILCHER

asked the Postmaster-General the gross and net revenue de- rived during the first year of operation from the beam wireless services to Canada, India, South Africa, and Australia, respectively?

Sir W. MITCHELL-THOMSON

The imperial beam wireless services are organised in my Department as a single business, and, as many of the items of expenditure are common to two or more services, it is hardly possible to give separate statistics for each service. For the year beginning 6th September, 1927, which was the first year during which all four services were in operation, the total gross revenue was approximately £440,000, and the net revenue (before charging depreciation and interest on capital) was approximately £166,000.
