asked the Minister of Health the average amount of rates in the £ paid in the following counties during the last year for which figures are available, and the amount produced by a 1d. rate in each case: Essex, Middlesex, Hants, Dorset, Devon, Somerset, Cornwall, and Yorks (West Riding)?

The following statement gives the desired information.

Name of Administrative County. Average rate per pound of assessable value of rates levied in the financial year 1927–28. Product of a penny rate in 1927–28 as estimated for the purposes of Section 9 of the Rating and Valuation Act,1925.
