§ Mr. HORE-BELISHAasked the Minister of Labour if he can give any figures as to the number of men who have been given work as a result of the Prime Minister's circular to employers in August last?
§ Mr. BETTERTONSince the issue of my right hon. Friend's appeal, the Employment Exchanges have found employment for not less than 5,000 persons from the depressed areas. In addition, as a result of the appeal, men from those areas have obtained work otherwise than through the Employment Exchanges, but the exact number of the latter cannot be given.
