BAKERasked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that the road and pavement at the bottom of Gads Hill Road, Eastville, Bristol, on the Fishopnds main road has now remained open for a very long time owing to Post Office excavations; whether he is aware that the pavement is very narrow at this point, and that the opening is a source of danger to the public, especially to children; and whether he will endeavour to expedite the work?
§ Sir W. MITCHELL-THOMSONIt is hoped to complete the work this week. Progress bas been unavoidably slow owing to the fact that the excavations had to be carried out in rock. I am informed that the excavations have been properly guarded, that the traffic along this part of the road is light, and that there has been no appreciable risk to the public.
