HC Deb 20 November 1928 vol 222 cc1569-70W
Mr. RILEY

asked the Minister of Health the respective financial contributions of the State, the employers, and insured persons to the cost of the widows', orphans' and old age contributory pension scheme for the years 1926–27 and 1927–28, respectively, and the disbursements from the fund in benefits and administrative expenses for the same years?

Sir K. WOOD

The approximate amounts of contributions and disbursements in England and Wales under the contributory pensions scheme are as follow for the periods named:

not used for the purpose of strengthening vaccine lymph; and whether those countries have displayed any special freedom from post-vaccinal encephalitis?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I would refer the hon. Member to the passage on page 12 of the recent report of the Committee on Vaccination, in which it is stated that almost all vaccine establishments use rabbits for the purpose of improving and maintaining the quality of the seed lymph. My Department have no information as to any countries in which this practice is not followed, and I am not, therefore, in a position to reply to the second part of the question.
