HC Deb 20 November 1928 vol 222 c1572W
Mr. C. EDWARDS

asked the Minister of Labour the latest estimate of the number of people engaged in industry as wage earners from 60 to 65 years of age and those at 65 years and over, separately?

Mr. BETTERTON

Precise statistics on these points are not available, but it- is estimated that, including persons unemployed, there are approximately 500,000 wage-earners aged 60 to 64 inclusive in industry and approximately 340,000 aged 65 and over. These figures include persons employed in agriculture, but exclude those employed in private domestic service.
