HC Deb 15 November 1928 vol 222 cc1128-9W
Mr. KELLY

asked the Minister of Labour whether the efforts of his Conciliation Department with the Celta Mills at Peterborough have resulted in bringing the parties to conference with a view to the settlement of the dispute in the artificial silk trade?

Sir A. STEEL-MAITLAND

As stated in my reply to the hon. Member on 8th November, I have been in communication with the firm, and the Department now propose to discuss the position with the union. In the circumstances, I do not think it is desirable that I should make any further statement on the position.
