HC Deb 15 November 1928 vol 222 c1123W
Sir R. THOMAS

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether he can offer any explanation for the fact that the number of deaths through flying accidents in the Royal Air Force which have occurred this year up to the present date is considerably in excess of the number for the corresponding period last year?

Sir S. HOARE

The number of accidents and still more the number of deaths through flying accidents are bound to fluctuate from year to year. The figure for this year, while in excess of that for the corresponding period of 1927, is below that for the corresponding period of 1926. I may add that the size of the Force and consequently the amount of flying done are still increasing year by year.
