asked the First Lord of the Admiralty how many industrial and other employés have been discharged from Government establishments under the Admiralty since the Prime Minister's letter to employers in August last?

The number of workpeople employed in the Home Dockyards, exclusive of those in the Works Department, was 33,328 on 20th August, and on 3rd November the number had risen to 33,730. The figures for other Establishments and Departments are not immediately available. For the non-industrial staffs, the numbers borne at the Admiralty and the Outports on 1st July and 1st October were 7,729 and 7,739 respectively.
