§ Sir S. HOAREOn 1st November, 1912, when flying was, of course, in its infancy, four airships and some 56 other aircraft were on charge. On 1st November, 1928, the strength of the Royal Air Force was approximately 780 first-line 907W aircraft, and in addition two airships were under construction but not yet in commission.
