asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether His Majesty's Government joined with those of other Powers in offering official congratulations to Chiang Kai-shek on his election to the Presidency of the National Government; and, if not, for what reason?

On the occasion of the Republican anniversary on 10th October, when Chiang Kai-shek assumed office as President of the National Government, His Majesty's Minister sent the following message to the Minister for Foreign Affairs at Nanking;On the occasion of the anniversary of the Revolution please accept my best wishes for the prosperity of the Republic and the welfare of the Chinese people.
