HC Deb 13 November 1928 vol 222 c707W
Commander BELLAIRS

asked the Minister of Transport whether, in order to assist our iron, steel, and coal industries, he will cause inquiries to be made among the railway managers as to the possibility of substituting pooled or separate orders for steel sleepers for the present timber supplies coming from abroad?

Colonel ASHLEY

This question has, I understand, been considered from time to time, but I will bring my hon. and gallant Friend's suggestion to the notice of the railway companies.
