HC Deb 12 November 1928 vol 222 c529W
Mr. W. THORNE

asked the Minister cf Agriculture, if he is aware that 7,000 acres of the Essex coast are in danger owing to the damage done to sea walls during the tidal wave last January; and what action is being taken in the matter?

Mr. GUINNESS

I am aware of the damage referred to. As the House was informed by the Chancellor of the Exchequer on 8th November, the Government propose to make certain extensions in regard to land drainage and allied schemes assisted out of State funds, subject to the employment of unemployed persons from distressed districts. Schemes dealing with the class of damage to which the hon. Member refers will be eligible for consideration.
