HC Deb 23 May 1928 vol 217 cc1902-3W
Mr. RHYS DAVIES

asked the Minister of Health the amount of the State grant on each of the additional benefits paid by approved societies for the years 1925, 1926, and 1927, respectively?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

The approximate amount of the State grant on each of the non-cash additional benefits paid by approved societies in England and Wales for the years specified is as follows:

known that portions of the gasworks site would be required in connection with such arterial road?

Commodore KING

The agreement providing for the erection of the plant referred to was signed on 31st March, 1927, and I am informed that no notice of intention to acquire powers to purchase the land in question was given until December, 1927.

Sir N. MOORE

asked the Minister of Transport the reason why he sanctioned an alteration in the line of the Chertsey arterial road by a deviation of the line so as to avoid the taking of lands belonging to the Gas Light and Coke Company, after the line had been agreed by his Department, the Surrey County Council, and the Richmond Corporation?

Colonel ASHLEY

In view of the arrangements made for the erection of a carbonisation plant on the Gas Light and Coke Company's land, the Surrey County Council, with my approval, are investigating the most satisfactory alternative alignment to adopt for the section of the New Chertsey Road to which my hon. Friend refers.
