HC Deb 21 May 1928 vol 217 c1517W
Brigadier-General BROOKE

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether seeing that two annas per month per soldier are deducted from the canteen grant paid by contractors in connection with the canteen arrangements of the British Army in India, he will say Whether this sum is paid over to the headquarters at Simla; if so, what is the amount of money thus realised per annum; and what are the purposes for which it is employed?

Earl WINTERTON

My Noble Friend has not yet received the final details of the new scheme of canteen organisation from the Government of India, but is making inquiries with particular reference to the points raised by my hon. and gallant Friend. I will inform him as soon as information is available.
