§ Major TRYONOwing to the fact that the expenditure incurred on behalf of the Ministry by its agents in the Dominions and abroad is not accounted for until some months after the end of the financial year, it is not possible to give comparable figures of numbers and cost for any later date than the financial year ended 31st March, 1927. On the 31st March, 1927, pensions were in issue to:
Disable officers and nurses 26,515 Dependants of deceased officers 15,259 Disabled men 489,658 Dependants of deceased men 483,654 The total amount paid in pensions by the Ministry for the 12 months ended the 31st March, 1927, was £56,711,737.
