HC Deb 17 May 1928 vol 217 c1237W
Mr. MACLEAN

asked the President of the Board of Education whether the Board of Education has issued instructions to educational authorities to employ male teachers for classes of boys of eight years of age and upwards; and, if not, whether the Board intends issuing such instructions?

Lord E. PERCY

The answer to both parts of the question is in the negative. The appointment of teachers rests with the local authorities and managers, who know the particular circumstances of individual schools, and the Board do not interfere with their discretion in the matter.
