§ Mr. AMERYIf the statutory maximum of expenditure had been reached in each year since the passing of the Empire Settlement Act, the amount expended up to the 31st March, 1928, would have been £16,806,343, which sum includes the amount of advances recovered. The actual expenditure to the 31st March, 1928, was £3,866,061.
