HC Deb 11 May 1928 vol 217 c544W
Captain R. HENDERSON

asked the Minister of Transport whether the inquiry into the question of electrical transmission lines being carried over the River Thames at Clifton-Hampden has been completed; whether the inquiry was favourable to the proposal; and whether he is aware that disappointment is felt in the neighbourhood at the delay of his Department in granting the necessary permit?

Colonel ASHLEY

I notified the Electricity Company last month that, after considering the representations that were made at the inquiry to which my hon. and gallant Friend refers, I had decided that I could not agree to the lines in question being placed overhead across the River Thames, but that I should be prepared to agree to them being placed in the bed of the stream.
