JENKINSasked the Minister of Labour if he is aware of the urgency of continuing unemployment benefit without any gap period; and will he take steps to enable this to be done in view of the fact that unions such as Brynmawr and Crickhowell, with low assessable values, are quite unequal to any demand caused by men whose benefit may cease corning on the books of the guardians, who are in many cases unable to collect rates?
§ Major BOYD-CARPENTER:I would refer the hon. Member to the statement made yesterday by my right hon. Friend on the Second Reading of the Unemployment Insurance Bill, in which he indicated the extent of the further benefit which it is proposed to provide.
