§ Sir K. WOODThe answer to the first question is in the affirmative. As regards the second, the amount of investments required to be realised by approved societies in England and Wales owing to heavy claims for sickness and disablement benefit and the large sums expended on additional benefits out of past surpluses is approximately £950,000.
