HC Deb 21 June 1928 vol 218 c1781W
Mr. ROBINSON

asked the Minister of Health whether he has received any report regarding the death of John Flanaghan, of Keighley, aged 10, who was vaccinated as a condition of going to a boys' camp by Dr. Villey on 12th May, became very ill on 26th May, was unconscious on 27th May, and died on 29th May from meningitis; whether any inquiry was held into the death of this boy, who was perfectly healthy when vaccinated; and, if so, what was the result?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. So far as I am aware, no inquiry was held into the death of this boy, but my Department have been in communication with the certifying practitioner. I am informed that no postmortem examination was held and that the certified causes of death were: I (a) Acute meningitis; (b) Tonsolitis; II. Vaccination.
