Mr. ROBINSONasked the Minister of Health whether he has received any report regarding the death of John Flanaghan, of Keighley, aged 10, who was vaccinated as a condition of going to a boys' camp by Dr. Villey on 12th May, became very ill on 26th May, was unconscious on 27th May, and died on 29th May from meningitis; whether any inquiry was held into the death of this boy, who was perfectly healthy when vaccinated; and, if so, what was the result?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINThe answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. So far as I am aware, no inquiry was held into the death of this boy, but my Department have been in communication with the certifying practitioner. I am informed that no postmortem examination was held and that the certified causes of death were: I (a) Acute meningitis; (b) Tonsolitis; II. Vaccination.
