HC Deb 21 June 1928 vol 218 c1780W
Sir R. THOMAS

asked the Home Secretary whether he is prepared to introduce legislation to prevent the annoyance to which members of the public are subjected from cardsharpers on trains, especially on race days?

Colonel ASHLEY

I have been asked to reply. I think that the existing powers of the railway companies should, generally speaking, be adequate to enable them to deal with the matter to which the hon. Member refers, provided that passengers subjected to annoyance from this cause are prepared to assist the companies by coming forward and giving evidence if necessary. I do not at present contemplate the introduction of further legislation.
