HC Deb 07 June 1928 vol 218 c360W
Mr. AMMON

asked the Postmaster-General whether he has received a resolution from the Colwyn Bay Urban District Council and other bodies protesting against the down-grading of Colwyn Bay Post Office to be placed under Llandudno for the future; and whether, in view of the feeling in the district, particularly that it will have an injurious effect on Colwyn Bay, he will reconsider the decision as to it remaining an independent head office?

Viscount WOLMER

I have received written protests, and a deputation from the urban district council has made oral representations. The intention is to treat the Colwyn Bay and Llandudno Post Offices in future as a single head office under one head postmaster, an arrangement which has been adopted in a number of similar cases where two towns are in close proximity. The change, which is based mainly on grounds of economy, will not affect the public services, and I am unable to modify the decision.
