§ Sir R. THOMASasked the Minister of Health, in view of the rapid growth of the Metropolitan area, if he is prepared to recommend measures to preserve free of buildings a belt of open country round London, and to restrain what is described as riband development along main traffic routes?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINThe general question of control of development is now under consideration by the Regional Committee for Greater London, as well as by district regional committees and town planning authorities. I shall be glad to give sympathetic consideration to any proposed measures of the kind mentioned. Proposals have to be conditioned, of course, by questions of finance.
