HC Deb 04 July 1928 vol 219 cc1390-1W
Sir N. GRATTAN-DOYLE

asked the Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs the increases in purchases of Empire produce due to the activities of the Empire Marketing Board?

Mr. AMERY

My hon. Friend's question cannot well be answered in any simple statistical form. The programme of the Board is planned to take effect over a considerable period, and the bulk of its work has not been designed to produce direct and immediately measurable results. The Board has, however, received much evidence that its work has materially strengthened the demand for Empire produce in the United Kingdom and has definitely increased the sale of Empire commodities.
