HC Deb 04 July 1928 vol 219 c1396W
Mr. ROBINSON

asked the hon. Member for Monmouth, as representing the Forestry Commissioners, whether the Commission has under consideration the desirability of largely increasing the area under afforestation, with a view to providing work for some of the 300,000 miners stated to be surplus to the mining industry?

Sir G. COURTHOPE

I have been asked to reply. The desirability of largely increasing the Forestry Commission's planting programme has been considered from time to time, but the extent of the Department's operations is limited by the funds available.
