HC Deb 27 February 1928 vol 214 c52W
Mr. ROBINSON

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury the number of persons in receipt of pension and the annual cost, respectively, in the case of the Civil Service, the Navy, the Army, and the Air Force, apart from disability or War pensions, and also of teachers?

Mr. SAMUEL

The following are the figures:

of their employment; the cost and from what sources it is met; and whether any estimates are available as to future numbers and cost?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I regret that I am unable to supplement such information as is contained in the recently published Report of the Departmental Committee on the superannuation of local government employés. I may say, however, that the cost of pensions is defrayed from the general income of local authorities except in so far as it is met by contributions from the employés themselves.
