HC Deb 20 December 1928 vol 223 cc3226-7W
Mr. DAY

asked the Minister of Labour the number of juveniles who are at present under training at ally of the juvenile training centres and the number that have been placed in employment during the 12 months ended to the last convenient date?

Mr. BETTERTON

The average number of juveniles at present attending juvenile unemployment centres is? 158. I regret that figures are not available in the form indicated in the second part of the hon. Member's question, but I may say that since 1st April of this year 38,377 juveniles have passed through the centres, most of whom have left to enter employment. Included in this figure are 1,736 boys from the centres in the distressed mining areas who have been placed in work in other parts of the country.
