§ Sir K. WOODMy right hon. Friend is aware that basement rooms are used, but there is not sufficient evidence to warrant a general conclusion as to the effect on health. Local authorities have powers to deal with insanitary conditions. He cannot promise a special investigation at the present time, but if the hon. Member has specific information of ill results from present conditions, my right hon. Friend will be glad to receive it.
