§ Mr. STEPHENasked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) how many scholars at the various intermediate or secondary schools in Glasgow are receiving grants in aid from the Glasgow education authority; and what is the maximum and minimum grant in each case;
(2) how many students are receiving grants in aid from the Glasgow education authority and the maximum and minimum grants in each case?
§ Sir J. GILMOURAssistance is granted by the Glasgow Education Authority to 3,513 scholars following courses of post-qualifying instruction of not more than three years' duration, to 677 scholars attending secondary schools, and to 734 students attending universities and other higher educational institutions. The maximum amounts granted for the three groups respectively are £10 10s., £20 10s., and £36 10s. annually. The minimum grant in the last group is £2 2s. In the other two groups it is approximately 30s., the estimated value of free books.
