HC Deb 18 December 1928 vol 223 c2822W
Mr. HORE-BELISHA

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, seeing that the work of issuing forms for declaration of incomes to taxpayers has been transferred to the offices of the inspectors of taxes, he will state the number of additional temporary persons who were employed under the Board of Inland Revenue during the period 6th October, 1927, to 5th October, 1928, and the cost to the Treasury; and the number of hours overtime worked by employés under the Board of Inland Revenue during the period 6th October, 1927, to 5th October, 1928, and the amount paid for this work?

Mr. CHURCHILL

Separate records are r of kept of the time devoted to the work of issuing forms for declaration of incomes or of the staff employed on the work, The preparation of such approximate figures as could be provided would involve a considerable expenditure of time and trouble which would, I think, be out of all proportion to their value.
