HC Deb 17 December 1928 vol 223 cc2641-2W
Mr. GILLETT

asked the Home Secretary whether his attention has been called to the accident at the Bank of Engand and to the recommendation of the jury that in their opinion the powers of the London County Council should be extended to ensure better supervision of the demolition of old buildings; and whether he proposes to take action on the lines suggested?

Sir V. HENDERSON

Yes, Sir, my right hon. Friend's attention has been drawn to this unfortunate accident. The question of strengthening the law for the protection of workmen engaged on demolition work has been noted for considera- tion in connection with the Factories Bill, but my right hon. Friend will also consult with the London County Council on the subject.
