asked the Minister of Labour approximately the total amount contributed by the employers and insured persons in the cotton and woollen industries, respectively, to the Unemployment Insurance Fund for the year 1927–28?

, pursuant to his reply [OFFICIAL REPORT, 28th November, 1928; col. 421, Vol. 223], supplied the following statement:

It is estimated that during the year ended 31st March, 1928, the amounts contributed to the Unemployment Insurance Fund in respect of the cotton and wool textile industries were approximately as follow:

INSURED PERSONS aged 16 to 64 classified as belonging to the Entertainments and Sports Industry and recorded as unemployed in Great Britain.
