Mr. MARDY JONES

asked the Secretary for Mines what was the total output of coal in each British coalfield for the year ended 30th September, 1928; what was the total quantity shipped as export and as bunkers during the same 12 months; and what is his estimate of the quantity of coal used over the same period by the iron and steel industry in Great Britain?

The figures of output and shipments of coal are given below, but I regret that I am unable at the present time to estimate the amount of coal used by the iron and steel industry.
