§ Sir J. GILMOURThe numbers of steel houses erected by the Second Scottish National Housing Company (Housing Trust) Limited, and by local authorities in Scotland respectively are 2,552 and 618. The total amount of money provided to date by the Exchequer for the steel houses erected by the above company is £1,019,700. Of the 618 houses erected by local authorities, 17 were demonstration houses, and a sum of1922W £3,500 has been paid by a special Exchequer grant in respect of them. Of the remaining 601, eight were erected under the Housing, Town Planning, Etc. (Scotland) Act, 1919, 51 under the Housing, Etc., Act, 1923, and 542 under the Housing (Financial Provisions) Act, 1924, and the appropriate State subsidy is being paid annually on each house. The number of steel houses under construction at 30th November last was 164. As regards the last part of the question, the answer is in the negative.
