HC Deb 11 December 1928 vol 223 c1937W
Mr. FOREST

asked the Minister of Labour whether his attention has been called to the sale of a British-owned west end hotel, and the supersession of many of the British staffs by foreigners; whether any of the latter have entered this country recently under special permits; and whether he will inquire into the system under which a number of British subjects have been dismissed in favour of these foreigners?

Mr. BETTERTON

If the hon. Member will give me the name of this hotel, I will make inquiries in order to see how many of the staff hold permits. Except in so far as it is desired to engage staff from abroad, I have no control in the matter.
