HC Deb 10 December 1928 vol 223 c1741W
Mr. RENNIE SMITH

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what obligation or obligations Germany has not fulfilled, other than that of reparations, so as to entitle her as of right under Article 431 or otherwise of the Peace Treaty to demand the withdrawal of the forces at present occupying the Rhineland before the expiry of the period laid down in the Treaty?

Mr. LOCKER-LAMPSON

In connection with the precise legal bearing of Article 431 on the present situation, His Majesty's Government have not found it necessary to take into consideration Germany's obligations under the Treaty of Versailles other than those relating to reparations.
