§ Mr. BELLAMYasked the Home Secretary whether his attention has been called to the fact that a recent inquest at Ashton-under-Lyne was held on licensed premises, whilst other premises were available, and one of the witnesses, who was ordered to remain outside the coroner's room in charge of a constable, had to wait in a public bar; and whether he will cause inquiries to be made into the whole of the circumstances and make inquiries as to the desirability of holding inquests on licensed premises whenever other suitable accommodation is available?

§ Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKSMy attention has been called to these matters. The law on the subject, to which the attention of coroners is drawn by a Home Office circular, is contained in Section 83 of the Licensing Act, 1910. I am in communication with the coroner who held the inquest referred to.
