HC Deb 05 December 1928 vol 223 c1234W
Mr. DUCKWORTH

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if His Majesty's Government have any understanding with any other Government as to joint action in China; and, if so, whether he will use his best offices to ensure at the earliest possible date a mutual settlement on a friendly basis with the Nationalist Government of China of all outstanding urgent questions?

Sir A. CHAMBERLAIN

As regards the first part of his question, I would refer the hon. Member to my reply to the hon. Member for Penistone (Mr. Rennie Smith) on 28th November. I am always anxious to do all in my power to promote a friendly settlement of outstanding questions, and shall certainly continue my efforts in this direction whenever an opportunity presents itself.
