HC Deb 04 December 1928 vol 223 cc1037-9W
Mr. DAY

asked the Minister of Health whether his attention has been drawn to the fact that in many nursing homes in the provinces a large number of probationary nurses are employed and that, while some of these nursing homes not only fail to exercise elementary cleanliness, very high prices are charged for services rendered; and will he consider the appointment of a Departmental Committee to consider the necessity of the introduction of legislation for the purpose of exercising control over these homes and to enable them to be regularly visited by inspectors of his Department?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

The hon. Member would seem to have overlooked the Report of the Select Committee of this House (H.C. 103, 1926) and the Nursing Homes Registration Act, 1927, which came into force on 1st July last.
