HC Deb 03 December 1928 vol 223 cc842-3W
Mr. W. THORNE

asked the Minister of Transport when the construction of the new bridge over the Thames at Marlow will begin; and the cost of the undertaking?

Colonel ASHLEY

Preliminary discussion has taken place between my Department and the local authorities regarding the provision of a new bridge, but no decision has yet been reached as to the policy to be adopted or the probable cost.

Mr. RUNCIMAN

asked the Minister of Transport what is the present position of the negotiations between the Transport Department, the London County Council, and the Southern Railway Company as to the removal of Charing Cross Station to the south side of the river; and what is the policy of the Government with reference thereto?

Colonel ASHLEY

I have nothing to add to the answer which I gave on 13th November to the hon. Member for Newcastle-on-Tyne, North (Sir N. Grattan-Doyle), and of which I am sending the hon. Member a copy.
