HC Deb 18 April 1928 vol 216 cc199-200W
Mr. CLARRY

asked the Minister of Labour whether any negotiations are in progress towards international agreement upon the eight-hour day Washington Convention; and, if so, between which countries?

Mr. BETTERTON

As my hon. Friend is probably aware, a proposal was made on behalf of the British Government at the meeting of the Governing Body of the International Labour Office last January that the revision of the Washington Convention should be placed on the agenda of the 1929 Conference. This matter is still before the Governing Body, and will be further considered by them in due course.
