HC Deb 11 April 1928 vol 162 cc1237-8W
Mr. SHORT

asked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware that Harry Hooper, residing at 32, Great Western Street, Wednesbury, was recently employed by Messrs. Foster Brothers, Lea-brook Tube Works; that he was stopped pending the arrival of raw materials; that no definite period of suspension could be stated; that the furnaces on which Hooper was employed continued to work seven shifts per week; that Hooper therefore asked for his cards; that unemployment benefit was disallowed for six weeks by the Tipton Employment Exchange; and will he make full inquiry into the case with a view to an adjustment?

Sir M. BARLOW

I am making inquiries locally, and will communicate the result to the hon. Member.
