HC Deb 05 April 1928 vol 215 c2147W
Mr. NAYLOR

asked the Minister of Health how many statutory joint vagrancy committees have been set up in England and Wales; how many of these have been established during the past 12 months; and whether in practice they have been found to give beneficial results?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

Sixteen statutory vagrancy committees covering 29 administrative counties in England and Wales have already been set up; two of these were constituted in 1927, and proposals to form two more are now under consideration; the work carried out by these committees is of great assistance in securing an improved standard in the administration of relief to casuals.
