HC Deb 04 April 1928 vol 215 c1972W
Mr. JOHNSTON

asked the Secretary for Mines how many coal mines in Scotland are, being closed temporarily or permanently as a result of the arrangements made for a limitation of output by the Scottish coal-masters; how many workers in and about the pits will, as a result, be thrown idle; and what steps, if any, are in contemplation to find these men alternative employment?

Commodore KING

I have no information yet showing the effect of the scheme referred to. If the hon. Member will repeat his question after the Recess, I will endeavour to reply.
