HC Deb 24 November 1927 vol 210 c2084W
Mr. JOHN

asked the President of the Board of Education how many local authorities have started open-air classes or open-air nursery schools for small children?

Duchess of ATHOLL

Seven local authorities maintain nursery schools for small children in which special attention is given to utilising open-air facilities, and 42 authorities maintain open-air schools for delicate children of all ages up to 16. In a number of areas, such as London and Manchester, classes more or less on open-air lines attached to public elementary schools have been started for young or delicate children.
